COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING

WEDNESDAY - NOVEMBER 14, 2012

The Wrenshall Board of Education's Committee of the Whole meeting was held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.

Discussion regarding our recruitment selection and implementing a new hiring policy.

Discussed the need of hiring a long-term sub for the custodial department due to the resignation of current housekeeper, effective November 30, 2012. The position will be terminated February 11, 2013. Discussion included hours and rates of pay.

Discussion regarding Inclusive Education Program.

Discussion regarding the Head Custodial position. Discussion also included maintenance of the gym floor, summer projects, the playground and on-call weekends.

Discussion regarding the need to hire a long-term sub Paraprofessional due to the pending termination of current Paraprofessional.

Discussion regarding upcoming changes in office duties for 2013/2014 due to tentative change in secretarial staff effective June 30, 2013. A meeting is scheduled for January with the office staff to discuss options.

Discussion regarding Administration and Teacher evaluations with a handout provided.

Discussion regarding Committee appointments and date for Budget Committee meeting,

Other topics of discussion included:

-Projected enrollment for the next 5 years

-Transportation

-Technology

-Curriculum review cycle

-Performance bonds

-Federal funds for energy efficient boiler

-Setting date for Long Term Planning meeting at Monday's regular board meeting.

-Truth in Taxation Meeting in December.

-ABE Controls frequency of visits to school building.
