SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
MONDAY - NOVEMBER 12, 2012
The Wrenshall Board of Education's special meeting was called to order at 6:46 am. on Monday, November 12, 2012 by Chairman Powers.
Board members in attendance were Janaki Fisher-Merritt, Matt Laveau, Shane Kuhlmey, Renae House and Troy Powers. Also in attendance were Superintendent Belcastro, Election Clerk Connie Skarbakka and Board Secretary Candy Christensen. Board member Deb Bryce was absent.
The purpose of the meeting to canvas the results of the election on 11/6/2012 and approve the resolution accepting the results.
Additions or corrections to the agenda: None
MOTION by Laveau; seconded by Fisher-Merritt to accept the Agenda. Motion carried.
Three (3) school board positions were also on the ballot. The following were elected to the positions each for a four (4)-year term that expires on January 1, 2017: Matt Laveau, Troy Powers and Janaki Fisher-Merritt.
Matt Laveau received the largest number of votes totaling 698.
Janaki Fisher-Merritt received the second largest number of votes totaling 588.
Troy Powers received the third largest number of votes totaling 516.
Tony Sheda received the fourth largest number of votes totaling 504.
There were write-in votes that totaled 18.
MOTION by Kuhlmey; seconded by House to accept the returns of votes for School Board Members in the School District General Election. Motion carried.
MOTION by Fisher-Merritt; seconded by Powers to adjourn the meeting at 6:59 am. Motion carried.
