New exhibit opens, historical movie to be shown at CCHS
The Carlton County Historical Society will open its new exhibit, “Before Cell Phones,” at noon Wednesday, Feb. 13, at its museum, 406 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet.
The Carlton County Historical Society will open its new exhibit, “Before Cell Phones,” at noon Wednesday, Feb. 13, at its museum, 406 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet.
The exhibit opening begins at noon with a tour of the new exhibit by museum Director Rachael Martin. The “Before Cell Phones” exhibit includes numerous items from the Carlton County Historical Society’s collection that cell phones have now replaced. On view are historic land line phones, calculators, clocks, calendars, cameras, typewriters, maps, radios, phonographs and examples of handwriting.
After touring the new exhibit, a special historical movie of Toscanini’s Hymn of the Nations and the Minuet Moonlight Sonata by Paderewski will be shown. Refreshments will be served.
Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children under 12 and $5 for families. Children under 5 and CCHS members are admitted free of charge. The museum is handicapped accessible. For more information, call 218-879-1938.
