Scholarships for post-secondary study in fields of study related to communication and/or business are offered by the Scheidler Foundation for 2013-14. The $2,000 scholarships will be awarded in May and are renewable for three years for a total of $8,000. Application forms are available from counselors offices at Carlton County high schools. Completed applications must be submitted to the Foundation by April 17, 2013.
Applicants must be in the top 50 per cent of a graduating class of a Carlton County high school and must have earned a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Residents of Carlton County who graduated from a Carlton County high school or have earned a GED are also eligible to apply. In addition to school achievement, applicants should show participation in extra-curricular activities, volunteer work and/or employment.
The Scheidler Scholarship Foundation was established in 1999 by Floy Bud Dickison and Ona Maurita Scheidler in memory of their mother Floy Gilman Scheidler.
