The Cromwell, Minnesota area is currently experiencing a telephone outage to the 644 exchange, according to the Carlton County Sheriff's office. As of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Frontier was on site working to fix the problem.
Anyone within that exchange area can drive to the Cromwell Fire Department to request emergency assistance.
Cellular telephones are working, and 911 can be reached by anyone with a cell phone.
