It’s great to be back home from my recent trip to Nashville. It’s always good to go, but better to come back. Getting to know my great nieces sure was fun and I think they enjoy getting to know me, too.
We want to congratulate Shirley Parviainen Eichenwald Maki on her recent retirement from The College of St. Scholastica. She has been teaching there for many years and has worked tirelessly on the improvement of the medical records, now called Health Informatics and Information Management. If you go to the CSS website, you can read and see videos about her. So, to Shirley, thank you for all you have done to improve the way medical information is managed in America and even the whole world.
I have recently updated the list of active duty military from our area. If you have any more information on names that are missing, or should be deleted, please let me know so we can keep a current, accurate list. Here is the list I have: Ryan Beck, Lonnie Bradford, Brandon Burns, Rebecca Burns, Joshua Cieluch, Leslie Crist, Tom Crist, Eric Davis, Tyler Envall, Mike Heikkila, Kyle Horton, Tanya House, Tiffany House, Dustin Huhta, Cole Johnson, Blaise Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Russell Johnson, Trevor Jokimaki, Levi Kasberg, Robert Kedrowski, Robert “Otto” Larson, David and Sherry Kedrowski Mitchell, Rochelle Pihlaja, Daniel “Bucky” Richards Jr., Danielle Richards, Cory Schleret, Logan Shiflett, Peter Switzer and Mike Thom. We thank them for their continued service to us all. Some of them are serving in very dangerous areas, so keep them in your thoughts and prayers, too. If you have their addresses, a letter of encouragement would help, too.
The third annual Christmas Brunch and Bake Sale will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran on Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be many new and gently used items for sale, craft items, silent auction, baked goods, and most of all, the brunch – serving egg bake, muffins, juice, coffee, etc., and lots of good fellowship, too.
“A Touch of Scandinavia,” an annual Christmas bazaar put on by the Women of Bethesda Lutheran Church (at 204 Fifth St. in Carlton), will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The bazaar will feature two meal selections, bars and rice pudding, craft table, crispy rosettes, lefse packaged or hot and ready to eat, special Scandinavian foods, Christmas cookies, candy and donuts, baked and canned goods, silent auction, next-to-new items, and the Bethesda cookbooks. See you there!
That’s all the news from Lake Getyourshoppingdone and hello to all coming home for the holidays.
