For the fifth consecutive year, Chub Lake Tree Farm, 1867 East Chub Lake Road, Carlton, will host a national effort called “Trees for Troops.” Since 2005, this program, sponsored by the National Christmas Tree Association through their charitable organization, The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, has sent over 103,000 real Christmas trees to military families based stateside as well as shipments overseas. FedEX has provided the in-kind service of shipping these trees and has logged more than 352,000 miles in this respect.

Dec. 1 and 2 has been designated as “Trees for Troops Weekend” this year. Chub Lake Tree Farm will be celebrating the event at this time, along with members of the local National Guard unit, Crazy Troop 1-94 CAV. Customers will have the opportunity to donate toward this effort, with funds raised used to send trees to military families. This year the organization’s goal is 17,000-plus trees. The public is invited to come to the farm that weekend to participate in this event. If that is not possible but you wish to help, contact Chub Lake Tree Farm at 218-384-4549. Also, check out the website at www.chublaketreefarm.com; or find them on Facebook (Chub Lake Tree Farm).
