Copies of the EAW are available for review at the Carlton County Zoning and Environmental Services Office located at 301 Walnut Ave., Room 103, Carlton, during normal business hours and the Cloquet Public Library located at 320 14th St., Cloquet.
At their regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13, the Carlton County Board of Commissioners approved and authorized publication of the Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for a proposed 212.44-acre business park and housing development.
The project proposer is the Carlton County Economic Development Office. The proposed project will provide access roads, internal roads and utility infrastructure for a future mixed-use development near Interstate Highway 35 and Minnesota State Trunk Highway 210. The project would provide lots for future development of industrial and residential uses.
The proposed project is located in Section 10 and 11 of Township 48 North, Range 17 West in Twin Lakes Township.
The EAW identifies the potential environmental impacts of developing a mixed use business and housing area consisting of six light-industrial lots, 15 multi-family lots, and 28 single-family lots.
Copies of the EAW are available for review at the Carlton County Zoning and Environmental Services Office located at 301 Walnut Ave., Room 103, Carlton, during normal business hours and the Cloquet Public Library located at 320 14th St., Cloquet. The EAW can also be viewed on the Carlton County website at www.co.carlton.mn.us.
Written comments addressing the accuracy and completeness of the material contained in the EAW, potential impacts that may warrant further investigation before the project is commenced, and the need for an Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed project should be submitted to Heather Cunningham, zoning and environmental services administrator, at 301 Walnut Ave., Room 103, P.O. Box 220, Carlton, MN 55718, no later than the close of business on Jan. 9, 2013.
