To the Editor:
On Nov. 1, approximately 200 people were invited to attend the “Red Carpet Event” at Premiere Theatre of a new DVD titled “EXTRAORDINARY” which is a 25-minute historical overview celebrating the 25-year history of Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College.
As the former chair of the board for 12 years and most recently reappointed as member to the Board of Directors I want to thank everyone who attended. A huge thanks to the Premiere Theatre folks and Jim and Jo’s who always come through with such great food. I especially want to thank all of those who worked on the creation of this special college in those early days of brainstorming, strategic planning, fund raising and then all those late night community meetings. There are far too many people to list but there were literally hundreds of local community folks involved, three different tribal councils, and then all of the county and state government officials who believed in what we were doing.
This latest project, the DVD, was a huge and expensive undertaking and I think everyone who attended the “premiere” will agree that it is truly an “extraordinary” tribute to everyone involved, especially to Jack Briggs, who poured his heart and soul into this special place which I like to call “The House That Jack Built.” Kudos to Tom Urbanski, public relations director for the college, the crew he hired and, of course, to President Larry Anderson. I hope all those in attendance opened their checkbooks or wallets and left a donation not only help defray the cost of producing the DVD but to contribute to the FDLTCC Foundation. One of the critical goals of the Foundation is to help provide scholarship assistance to all qualified student attending the school. I am also hoping that anyone reading this letter who might want a copy of the DVD will call or stop at the college, make a donation (doesn’t matter how big or small) and once you’ve watched it I am sure you will be surprised, pleased and proud to know it’s history and to know this college continues to strive and grow as one of the most unique colleges in the country.
