October was Pastor Appreciation Month at St. Johns’ Lutheran Church in Wright. The Rev. Larry Cain has been serving this congregation since August. On Oct. 21, the members held a potluck lunch after services. A special surprise was the unveiling of a specially decorated cake with a photo of Pastor Cain on one side and a few Vikings’ helmets and footballs. Usually after each service the congregation hears the words, “Go Vikings!”

For the coming weeks, St. Johns will have 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening services. Wednesday, Nov. 21, is a special Thanksgiving Eve worship, and all are welcome to attend. During Advent, in addition to Sundays, services will be held on the following Wednesdays: Nov. 28, Dec. 5, Dec. 12 and Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a light supper.

After Advent, the Christmas week will start with a children’s program on Dec. 23 during the 10:30 Sunday service. There will be no Christmas Day service, but a 5:30 p.m. Christmas Eve service will be held. A warm welcome is sent to everyone to attend, as we truly show appreciation for our new Pastor!
