It’s been 28 years since Leola Rodd started the first holiday arts and craft show in Carlton, an event that sparked a Christmas tradition that continues through today.
Saturday’s Carlton Community Christmas Celebrations promises plenty for the young and the young at heart.
It all happens at the high school, starting with a pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m. as well as arts and crafts displays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kids can enjoy Breakfast with Santa from 10-11 a.m., followed by kids’ activities and pictures with Santa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., all free and accompanied by special Christmas music.
“It’s hectic, but it’s gotten easier over the years,” said Rodd, who is also mayor of Carlton. “There should be a lot going on – lots of kids’ activities – and it’s all free.”
Donations of toys, hats and mittens are also being collected for Carlton area kids at the following locations:
Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, Get Fuzed in Carlton, Woodland General Insurance in Carlton, Frandsen Bank & Trust in Carlton, Wells Fargo of Carlton, Northwoods Credit Union in Cloquet (Stanley Avenue), Carlton High School Library, South Terrace Elementary in Carlton, and Wrenshall School.
Contact Leola Rodd at 384-3697 or 218-310-6065 for more information.
