Lilly contributes to Winona State soccer team

Caitlin Lilly, a freshman on the Winona State women’s soccer team, scored the go-ahead goal with 15 minutes to play to post a 2-1 victory over Upper Iowa in the semifinals of the 2012 NSIC/US Bank Tournament in Mankato recently.

Lilly’s goal came just 14 seconds after Upper Iowa tied the game late in the second half. Kelsey Foss and Rebecca McCoy earned assists on the play as the Warriors used the goal to advance to the NSIC Tournament championship game, where the Warriors fell 1-0 to Minot State.

Lilly’s goal was her fifth of the season, tied for the best on the team. She was also named to the All-Tournament team.

Lilly, an Esko High School graduate and former Esko-Carlton soccer player, is the daughter of Brenda and Loren Lilly. She is majoring in athletic training at Winona State.
