Unbeaten Rebels still unbeaten, roll on to state semifinals

ST. CLOUD — Moose Lake-Willow River running back Jake Disterhaupt drove in for a pair of rushing touchdowns and caught another as the Rebels rolled past Hawley 35-22 in a Class AA state quarterfinal football game Friday night at Husky Stadium at St. Cloud State University.
Disterhaupt, a 6-foot, 190-pound senior, scored once in the second, the third and the fourth quarters, as the Division I talent totaled 126 rushing yards on 24 attempts. Senior backfield mate Michael Pender added a game-best 191 yards on 27 carries, including the game’s first two touchdowns, as the second-ranked Rebels rushed for 385 yards, passing just once.
Unbeaten ML-WR (12-0) led 21-14 at halftime before pulling away en route to a semifinal matchup with Jackson County Central (10-2) Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. A win would put the Rebels in their third Prep Bowl in four years, including the last seven state tournaments.
Fifth-ranked Hawley was guided by quarterback Jordan Harms’ 145 yards passing and two long touchdowns. The Nuggets finished the year 11-1.
