After almost a month and three deaths, the bridge on Center Road is finally open to traffic. It wasn’t too hard to make the detour on the way to Cromwell, but when just going to Wright or west, we had to make a four-mile round about to get to town. We sure do appreciate the new bridge now and it sure looks nice.

Congratulations to Courtney and Wade Schultz on the birth of their fourth daughter on Oct. 14. Ericka Joyce came in at 8 pounds, 13 ounces and 22 inches long. The whole Schultz and Messer families welcome this new bundle of joy.

The Cromwell-Wright speech team will again sponsor the Hunter’s Supper on Friday, Nov. 2. This year’s meal will consist of turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, sweet potato pie and a beverage. Cost for adults is $10, ages 2-12 is $6 and age 2 and younger are free. Volunteers are needed to help. All proceeds will go to the Cromwell-Wright speech team. Contact Brian Schilling at the school if you are able to help out.

The Cromwell-Wright cross country team has been working hard and is in final tune mode. Last week at the Polar League Conference race the following earned medals in the JV race: Justice Bauer, second; Emily Warpula, sixth; Olivia Warpula, seventh; Cloe Forland, eighth; and Tristan Hackensmith, eighth. Nick Koenig earned All Conference by placing fifth in the boys varsity race. The team competes at the Section Meet today (Thursday, Oct. 25) at the Cloquet Country Club starting at noon. Keep up the hard work runners!

The Area Clothing Depot in Cromwell is holding their annual coat and sweater give away Oct. 23, 25, 27, 30 and Nov. 1 and 3. One free coat and three free sweaters will be offered per person per visit.

It’s time again to start planning for the Chill-O-Ween Party! It will be held Friday, Oct. 26. It’s for all ages and will again be a potluck. If you have any questions or would like to make a donation, call Alicia Jatkola at 218-838-8430.

The Cromwell Community Craft Sale is just around the corner! It will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Spaces are still available if you are interested. Call Pauline at218- 644-3713 or Peggy at 218-644-3746 or 218-390-4210.

Attention Veterans: Join the folks at the Cardinal Court-Villa Vista on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Note date change from last week’s article. Stories and sharing time will be at 10 a.m. A noon luncheon for the veterans and guests will be served. Everyone is welcome to thank our vets at these events and also for the 1 p.m. coffee and goodies. If you are a veteran, please feel welcome to attend.

The Carlton County chapter of Thrivent has reserved the entire Encore Theater for a special holiday showing of “Christmas Belles.” The date of this great event is Monday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. Call Steve at 218-384-4400 to sign up.

The Arrowhead Bookmobile will be in the area on Nov. 6, 27 and Dec. 18 in Wright by the old school from 1:15-1:45 p.m. and in Cromwell on Main Street from 2-2:45 p.m.
