Donald Dean Elmer, 84, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, Oct 18, 2012, at Woodland Good Samaritan Elmwood House in Brainerd, Minn.
Donald Dean Elmer, 84, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, Oct 18, 2012, at Woodland Good Samaritan Elmwood House in Brainerd, Minn.
Join his family for a Celebration of His Life from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet.
Donald was born and grew up in Cloquet, the son of Robert and Bertha (Rock) Elmer. He served his country in the United States Army. Donald was an iron worker by trade and a member of the steel workers union. He was a member of Big Lake Gun Club, FOE Eagles Club and Cloquet Country Club. Donald enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time outdoors.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Delores (Liz) Westerham; and brother, Father Phillip Elmer.
Donald will be missed by his daughter, Denise (Rick) Segler of Brainerd; granddaughters, Katie Petersen of Pequot Lakes, Minn., and Taylor Segler of Brainerd; grandsons, Bret Petersen of San Francisco, Calif., and Evan Segler of Brainerd; sisters, Marge (David) Golen of Cloquet and Betty (Robert) Hansen of St. Louis Park, Minn.; brother, Jim Elmer of Cloquet; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Doug Wilson.
