The next Senior Dance in the Cromwell Pavilion will be on Thursday, Oct. 25, with Florian Chmielewski. Dances are from 1-4 p.m.
There will be a Halloween Bingo at the Senior Center in Wright on Oct. 27 starting at 6 p.m. with a Sloppy Joe meal and Bingo at 7 p.m. Halloween costumes are optional. Come on out and join the fun.
Attention veterans! Join the folks at Cardinal Court-Villa Vista on Nov. 8. Share your stories and time. A luncheon for the veterans will be served.
Our area has been hit hard again with deaths. It seems that accidents or old age cause most or all of these deaths, but our area seems to have been hit unusually hard lately. Our sympathy to all friends and families concerned.
Rose E. Zacher, 89, of Brainerd and formerly of Sawyer, passed away Monday, Oct. 1, in Brainerd. She was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Cromwell to Thomas and Hazel (Schmitt) Balsness. Rose owned and operated Bob and Rose’s Bar in Sawyer for many years.
Ida Esther Adelsgruber Larson went to her heavenly father on Aug. 6, 2012, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Boise, Idaho.
Quinton R. Matuszak, 44, of Kerrick passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, in Wisconsin after a motorcycle accident. He was the brother of Rachel Weizenegger of Hermantown. Rachel is our high school art teacher.
Mitch Lingren, 29, of Duluth and Zachary Gamache, 25, of Esko were working for the Carlton County Highway Department when they were killed the morning of Oct. 1, 2012, on their way to a work site near Wright. Then, a Hill City man died on the way to Community Memorial Hospital on Oct 4, 2012, after being electrocuted on the same job site near Wright. Richard Roy Washburn, 30, was employed with Ulland Brothers at the time of the accident.
