To the Editor:
[A letter to the editor in] the Oct. 4 issue of the Pine Journal claimed Mike Sundin will work for the middle class and property tax relief. Well, this may be true, however [letter writer] Sherm Liimatainen, former Teamster boss and union representative, threw my candidate, Jim Putnam, under the bus. Jim did not have anything to do with the homestead tax credit elimination; yes, this was a compromise which Govern Dayton signed. It is true that Greater Minnesota may have been hit harder than the Metro area. My candidate is working for Greater Minnesota and District 11A, and putting it on a more level playing field. Putnam will work hard for the middle class because he is one of us, but not in President Obama’s class of the $250,000 middle class. Jim and his wife, Kathi, are both retired, drawing Social Security and small retirements. Does this sound like someone who is going to help destroy the middle class?
Mr. Liimatainen, Jim said you knew his father and him and coached his son in hockey. I thought you knew better of my candidate.
It is time for change. Please vote for the best person and candidate, not the party. Vote for Scanlon Mayor Putnam. He deserves the job in St. Paul. He is the best candidate of the three. He was endorsed by the Duluth News Tribune on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
Matt Falk, campaign manager
Jim Putnam for House of Representatives
