Larry Dean Allen

Larry Dean Allen was born Nov. 16, 1955, to Clarence and Elaine Allen at the University of Minnesota hospital in Minneapolis, Minn. He passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Duluth, Minn., after same-day surgery at the age of 56 years. Larry grew up and went to school in Rush City, Minn. He lived in many different cities and towns. Most recently, he lived in Cloquet, Minn., with his very devoted and loving partner, Brenda Angell. Larry treated Brenda's three children (Cosandra Angell, Candice Angell and Crystal Angell) and nine grandchildren as his own.

He is survived by his children, Jorie (Eddy) Wilkinson of Cambridge, Minn., Jenah Allen of Cambridge, Jerrin (Matthew) Shockman of Braham, Minn., Amanda Allen of Michigan, Clarence Allen of Michigan, Laura Allen of Michigan, James Allen of Michigan and Kaitlin Wibbens of Oregon; grandchildren, Jace and Jaidan Wilkinson, Austin, Tranelle, Miah and Maleah Allen, and Carson, Alivia and Luke Shockman; significant other, Brenda Angell; brothers, Roger Allen of Rush City, Clarence Jr. (Darla) Allen of Grantsburg, Wis., and Steven Allen of Little Falls, Minn.; sister, Judy (Carl) Huston of Rush City; sister-in-law, Pat Allen; brother-in-law, Terry Smuder; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Sr. and Elaine (Johnson) Allen; brother, Dwight Allen; and sisters, Vida Mae Allen and Jan Smuder.

The Rev. John Beck will officiate a memorial service at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City, with a time of visitation one hour prior. Honorary casket bearers include nephews Kenny, Jason, Jeremy, Charlie, Casey, Joe, Jacob, Joshua, Jordan, Josiah and Andy.
