Police suspect arson in Cloquet fire
On Sunday, Oct. 14, at approximately 9:05 a.m., Cloquet Police were called to a residence on the 2300 block of Kelly Avenue in the city of Cloquet where it was reported that a house had been intentionally set on fire.
On Sunday, Oct. 14, at approximately 9:05 a.m., Cloquet Police were called to a residence on the 2300 block of Kelly Avenue in the city of Cloquet where it was reported that a house had been intentionally set on fire.On the scene, police learned that one of the occupants of the home had put the fire out with a garden hose and no one was injured.
Police do not believe this was a random act and believe some of the residents of the home knew the suspect.Statements from possible witnesses were taken at the scene and through these, a suspect was identified.
The suspect was arrested a short time later without incident and is currently being held at the Carlton County Law Enforcement Center awaiting formal charges.
The underlying motive is unclear at this time and remains under investigation. Police are asking if the public has any additional information to call the Cloquet Police Department at 218-879-1247.
