MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT - Park Lake

MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Trails, is proposing the purchase of an existing property on Park Lake, described as a portion of Government Lot 2, Section 29, Township 48, Range 18, Carlton County. The property which contains approximately 1.2 acres, is located immediately adjacent to the existing Atkinson Township Public Water Access Site to Park Lake.

The Department of Natural Resources proposes to purchase the referenced property with the intent to work cooperatively with Atkinson Township to improve the existing Public Water Access. The existing Park Lake Public Water Access is confined to a narrow property that lacks the area required to provide for safe and effective boat launching and vehicle trailer parking. In concept, a new Public Water Access would consist of a single concrete boat ramp, a boarding dock, a parking area with car/trailer spaces, and design features for managing storm water runoff. The type of surface utilized throughout the proposed Public Water Access and the total number of parking spaces developed will be determined during facility design.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Trails, will accept public comment concerning this proposed acquisition until October 29, 2012. Written comments may be sent to Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Trails, 701 South Kenwood, Moose Lake, MN 55767 or e-mail comments to mark.wester@state.mn.us.
