The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College football team picked up arguably the biggest victory in program history last Saturday with a 20-12 win over the state’s top-ranked team.

The Thunder traveled to Willmar and knocked off South Division leading and previously undefeated Ridgewater thanks to 202 yards rushing and two touchdowns from running back Victor Griffin.

The defense held the Warriors to only 60 yards passing and forced three interceptions. Defensive back Rial Wells grabbed his league-leading fifth interception of the year in the contest.

The Thunder (4-2, 2-0 MCAC Northern Division) now return home to face Mesabi Range at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bromberg Field in Cloquet. That time and location marks a change from previously published schedules.

The game is also the Thunder’s final regular season home game of the year. The team will conclude its regular season on Thursday, Oct. 11, against Vermilion Community College in Ely.
