Updated: One dead in collision between car and train
Susan McPhail, age 67, died after her car was struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train near Cromwell Wednesday morning.
One person is dead after a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train traveling eastbound hit a passenger vehicle at the East Mud Lake crossing at approximately 7:58 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22.
Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Cromwell Ambulance and Wright First Responders were dispatched to the scene where Susan McPhail, age 67, was found dead on arrival. McPhail was driving the passenger vehicle when it was struck by the train at a crossing between Cromwell and Wright, on the north side of Highway 210 near Woodbury Lake.
McPhail is believed to have been a 1963 graduate of Cloquet High School.
Carlton County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol, along with Burlington Northern, are currently investigating the accident.
