Leroy C. Starkey

Leroy C. Starkey, 85, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet. Leroy was born Oct. 13, 1926, in St. James, Minn., to Clara and Clement Starkey. He was in the Navy during World War II. Leroy hauled lumber on the North Shore, drove bus, worked for Northwest Paper and the Potlatch Corporation, retiring in 1988. Leroy enjoyed traveling, motorcycling, snowmobiling, camping and playing games.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lester.

Leroy is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Theresa; daughters, Kathy (Tom) Demers and Sue (Mike) Mangan; sons, Mark (Becky) and Larry; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Elvira and Marcella; and brothers, Jerry and Roger.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 102 Fourth St., Cloquet.
