Carlton Daze provides ‘flood relief’

Carlton Daze went the extra mile this year to create a family-friendly – and free – celebration for the many residents who are still recovering from the financial devastation of the flood.

“It’s amazing – up until a few weeks ago we were wondering what in the world we were going to do,” said Carlton Daze committee member Jolene Steffens of Art Dimensions, “but we pulled it off.”

Steffen said many additional businesses and organizations stepped up to the plate this year to contribute time and money to the event in order to provide free entertainment for kids of all ages.

This year’s volleyball tournament was twice as big as normal, the treasure hunt fundraiser gave a great boost to the Carlton Library and the parade featured many new units that have never participated before.

“We already have people who want to volunteer for next year’s event,” said Steffen. “We want to do it even bigger and better.”
