Filings for numerous local school board, city and township races opened July 31 and are set to close at 5 p.m. Aug. 14.

Carlton County Auditor Paul Gassert said there are two or three school board seats up for election in each of the county’s seven school districts, plus numerous township and city elected positions. Residents who want to run for a particular position must file with the local governmental body (for example, someone who wants to run for the Barnum School Board would file with the Barnum School District).
