Letter: Sundin needs to debate Ahlgren

To the Editor:

Why won’t Mike Sundin debate Mayor Bruce Ahlgren? Despite several invitations to discuss the issue important to northeastern Minnesota, Mike refuses to participate in a public debate. I understand that Bruce Ahlgren has an impressive resume – the longtime mayor of Cloquet, a former Cloquet School Board president, and Carlton County court administrator, along with service on the local Development Commission and WLSSD sanitary board – but Ahlgren’s knowledge of the issues and proven leadership shouldn’t be an excuse that Mike Sundin not share his views.

Voters have a choice to make in the Aug. 14 DFL Primary Election and we, the voters, deserve to know where the candidates stand. Mike Sundin needs to agree to a public debate.
