Cutoff for campaign Letters to the Editor is today

REMINDER regarding Campaign Letters to the Editor to be published in the Pine Journal:

This week's paper will be the last issue where we publish letters to the editor endorsing a particular candidate for the primary election. Letters should be submitted by 5 p.m. today (Tuesday, July 31). While we prefer they send letters by email (news@pinejournal.com), it's fine to bring them in to the office, or fax to 218-879-2018. Letters should be fewer than 300 words and signed with first and last name, city of residence and a phone number so we can verify they wrote the letter or call to clarify anything we might find confusing.

It's been a long-time policy at the Pine Journal (and most other newspapers) not to publish endorsement letters in the issue immediately before an election, because it doesn't allow time for corrections.
