To the Editor:
We need to support Mike Sundin who is running for the Minnesota House Seat 11A. I have known Mike for many years and have seen his boundless energy working for the local workers and promoting area development.
Mike was raised on a working dairy farm near International Falls and has had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and fishing. Work as a union painter relocated him to Cloquet and finally Esko, where he and his wife, Terry, live.
Mike and Terry, who have three children and six grandchildren, know firsthand that a vibrant education is essential for the changing job market and the success of every Minnesota family. Mike’s strong commitment to education guided him to service on the Cloquet School Board.
Mike was chairman of the Carlton County DFL organizing unit for eight years and has been actively hands-on in scores of political campaigns.
Endorsements for Mike have come in from the Duluth Building and Construction Trades Council, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers State Council (IBEW), the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Local 106, and Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 11. Distinguished individual support has some from Lt. Governor Yvonne Prettner-Solon; the Honorable James L. Oberstar, former 18-term Congressman of the 8th District; Sherman Liimatainen, Lake Country Power board director and retired teamster; Rep. Kerry Gauthier, 7B; Dave Lillehaug, former U.S. Attorney and lead DFL attorney for election recounts; Mrs. Eleanor Heaney; Carlton County Commissioner Marv Bodie; Mark Roberts, Cloquet City Council and former president of the Chamber of Commerce; and Brady Nelson, president of Local 63, United Steel Workers.
I personally support Mike and ask you to vote for him in the Primary. Our area needs his energy and experience in the Legislature.
