SUMMARY OF CARLTON ISD 93 BOARD OF EDUCATION SPECIAL MEETING

AUGUST 29, 2011

The Board of Education of Independent School District 93, Carlton, Minnesota, met in a special session with concerned parents and staff on Monday, August 29, 2011. The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Hagenah, Chair. Members present included Hagenah, Emerson, Johnson, Gibson, Walton, and Haapala, ex officio. Absent: Kiehn.

Motion by Johnson, second by Gibson, to approve the meeting agenda. Motion passed.

Motion by Johnson, seconded by Walton, to approve the Memorandum of Understanding with the Carlton Education Association regarding retirement language. Motion passed.

Motion by Gibson and seconded by Johnson to suspend Varsity and Junior Varsity football program for the 2011 season. Discussion followed and the motion failed 1-4.

The Board moved into a closed session to discuss negotiations with the Carlton Education Association at 6:10 p.m. The regular session reconvened at 6:42 p.m.

Motion by Emerson, second by Gibson, that there being no further business the meeting be adjourned at 6:43 p.m. Motion passed.
