Carlton County flood disaster assistance for erosion issues
By: Press release, Pine Journal
The Carlton County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is working with state and federal officials to bring financial aid to landowners affected by the flood waters of late June in Carlton County. Erosion issues such as gullies, full sediment traps, field washouts and roadside erosion can be found throughout the county.
The SWCD works with local, state and federal conservation partners to bring design and financial assistance to landowners of Carlton County for erosion control and water quality projects.
“We are not an emergency response agency,” said Mark Thell, Carlton SWCD chairperson. “We have been around for 50 years and through our partnerships, have access to assistance for erosion control and water quality improvement projects for county residents.
“We currently have program funds to work with,” said Brad Matlack, SWCD manager, “but as the scope of the damage continues to be documented, more resources may become available. It is important to get your erosion issue identified so that the true scope of the damage can be documented.”
If you have an erosion issue, call the SWCD at 218-384-3891.
