The Wrenshall Board of Education's Committee of the Whole meeting was held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012.
Superintendent Herman provided a preliminary budget for 2012/2013, followed by discussion.
Discussion regarding 2012/2013 staffing issues including replacement of teachers leaving the District, posting of positions and criteria for hiring teachers.
Superintendent Herman provided a handout outlining the real estate tax impact of a referendum, followed by discussion.
Discussion regarding transportation policies and rates. Discussion also included transporting of chaperones, maintenance of the buses, extra-curricular scheduling of buses and contracting out busing.
The Playground Committee was present to update the board on their findings of the deteriorating condition of the current playground equipment. It was requested that the elementary students be provided balls, Frisbees, jump ropes etc. for alternate activities during recess. It was suggested that the Playground Committee consider using an outside financial institution for depositing their funds rather than using the general fund account.
Other:
- Speed bumps in front of the school to help deter careless driving.
- Clarification regarding a statement made during open forum.
