Carlton County starts county-wide curbside residential flood-debris pickup
By: Press release, Pine Journal
Carlton County is continuing its efforts to pick up residents’ flood-related debris. The county has contracted with several garbage haulers to get flood-related debris. The haulers have started with locations in Moose Lake and Barnum and are expanding efforts today to reach more communities.
Flood debris needs to be sorted into different categories: appliances, electronics, household hazardous waste, solid waste (items like flooded carpets and construction debris), and household and food waste.
Early next week, Carlton County will post a schedule of when haulers will be in each city and township in the county. Currently, the county is focusing on concentrated spots to move the most garbage in a short period of time.
The county has also named Tim Homstad as the Flood Debris Removal Coordinator. He can reached at (218) 380-0355 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to answer questions about debris removal or schedule a pickup.
The county has five locations where residents can self-haul their flood-related waste if they don’t want to wait for curbside pick up. Flood-related waste is being accepted at no cost:
