Sappi hopes to restart operations Tuesday night

Sappi Fine Paper stated Tuesday morning that the company hopes to restart pulp and paper making operations at its Cloquet mill sometime Tuesday evening in the wake of last week's flood cleanup.

Sappi Fine Paper stated Tuesday morning that the company hopes to restart pulp and paper making operations at its Cloquet mill sometime Tuesday evening in the wake of last week's flood cleanup.

Shannon McLoughlin, spokesperson for Sappi Fine Paper,issued the following statement on behalf of the company:

"As of 8am CT today (Tuesday, June 26), our team at the Cloquet Mill is actively engaged in clean up and recovery efforts, with a goal of restarting pulp and paper making operations later this evening. The resourcefulness, dedication and hard work of our employees is reflected in the fact that to date we have experienced no serious safety incidents, have minimized any environmental impacts, and have effectively protected mill infrastructure. With healthy inventories and flexible scheduling between our coated mills, customer disruptions will be minimized."
