Severe thunderstorms are moving through parts of the Northland this afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Twin Ports, the Interstate 35 corridor, Iron Range, North Shore and all of Northwestern Wisconsin until 10 p.m. Large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes are possible.
As of 3 p.m., one line of strong storms was situated over the Interstate 35 corridor south of Cloquet, moving north. It had prompted a severe thunderstorm warning for Pine and southern Carlton counties until 3:15 p.m. for the possibility of winds to 60 mph and nickel-size hail.
Another batch of storms had prompted a warning for Washburn and eastern Douglas counties until 3:15 p.m.. Those storms produced quarter-size hail near Trego at about 2:30 p.m.
