SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING MINUTES

JUNE 4, 2012 - 6:00 P.M.

The Board of Education of Independent School District 93, Carlton, Minnesota, met in special session on Monday, June 4, 2012. Emerson called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. Members present: Walton, Johnson, Emerson, Hagenah, Bennett, and Superintendent Haapala. Absent: Gibson.

Johnson made motion to approve meeting agenda with support from Bennett. Motion passed 5-0.

Johnson offered the following resolution and moved its adoption:

RESOLUTION PLACING Lisa Johnson ON UNREQUESTED LEAVE OF ABSENCE

WHEREAS, the School Board of Independent School District No. 93 adopted a resolution proposing placement of Lisa Johnson on unrequested leave of absence on April 16, 2012, on the grounds of discontinuance of position, lack of pupils and/or financial limitations; and

WHEREAS, said written notice of the proposed placement on unrequested leave was received by LISA JOHNSON by hand delivery on April 17, 2012, and

WHEREAS, said written notice of the proposed placement on unrequested leave contained a statement setting forth the reasons for the proposed placement as well as a statement that she was entitled to a hearing before the school board provided she made a request in writing within fourteen days of receipt of said notice, and that if no hearing was requested within said fourteen days period it constituted acquiescence by Lisa Johnson to the school board's proposed action, and

WHEREAS, a written request was received by the school board or superintendent of schools from Lisa Johnson for a hearing as of May 1, 2012, and

WHEREAS, Lisa Johnson subsequently withdrew her request for hearing on May 25, 2012.

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the School Board of Independent School District No. 93 that Lisa Johnson be and hereby is placed on unrequested leave of absence as a teacher of Independent School District No. 93 on the grounds of discontinuance of position, lack of pupils and/or financial limitations effective at the end of the 2011-12 school year on June 30, 2012, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 125.12, 6b, without pay or fringe benefits.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a notice of placement on unrequested leave, together with a copy of this resolution be forwarded to said teacher by certified mail or personally and that an affidavit of same be placed in her file, together with a copy of the notice and resolution.

The resolution was supported by Bennett and duly declared adopted on the following vote: Emerson-yea, Gibson-yea, Walton-Yea, Johnson-yea, Hagenah-yea, and Bennett-yea.

Hagenah offered the following resolution and moved its adoption:

RESOLUTION PLACING Tracy Bockbrader ON UNREQUESTED LEAVE OF ABSENCE

WHEREAS, the School Board of Independent School District No. 93 adopted a resolution proposing placement of Tracy Bockbrader on unrequested leave of absence on April 16, 2012, on the grounds of discontinuance of position, lack of pupils and/or financial limitations; and

WHEREAS, said written notice of the proposed placement on unrequested leave was received by TRACY BOCKBRADER by hand delivery on April 17, 2012, and

WHEREAS, said written notice of the proposed placement on unrequested leave contained a statement setting forth the reasons for the proposed placement as well as a statement that she was entitled to a hearing before the school board provided she made a request in writing within fourteen days of receipt of said notice, and that if no hearing was requested within said fourteen days period it constituted acquiescence by Tracy Bockbrader to the school board's proposed action, and

WHEREAS, a written request was received by the school board or superintendent of schools from Tracy Bockbrader for a hearing as of May 1, 2012, and

WHEREAS, Tracy Bockbrader subsequently withdrew her request for hearing on May 25, 2012.

WHEREAS, the School Board of Independent School District No. 93 adopted a resolution proposing placement of Ryan Schmidt on unrequested leave of absence on April 16, 2012, on the grounds of discontinuance of position, lack of pupils and/or financial limitations; and

WHEREAS, said written notice of the proposed placement on unrequested leave was received by RYAN SCHMIDT by hand delivery on April 17, 2012, and

WHEREAS, said written notice of the proposed placement on unrequested leave contained a statement setting forth the reasons for the proposed placement as well as a statement that she was entitled to a hearing before the school board provided she made a request in writing within fourteen days of receipt of said notice, and that if no hearing was requested within said fourteen days period it constituted acquiescence by Ryan Schmidt to the school board's proposed action.

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the School Board of Independent School District No. 93 that Ryan Schmidt be and hereby is placed on unrequested leave of absence as a teacher of Independent School District No. 93 on the grounds of discontinuance of position, lack of pupils and/or financial limitations effective at the end of the 2011-12 school year on June 30, 2012, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 125.12, 6b, without pay or fringe benefits.

The resolution was supported by Bennett and duly declared adopted on the following vote: Emerson-yea, Gibson-yea, Walton-Yea, Johnson-yea, Hagenah-yea, and Bennett-yea.

Hagenah made resolution with a second from Johnson that was adopted by unanimous vote of the School Board recalling Lisa Johnson to a 0.50 FTE DAPE/Physical Education/Health position at BA Step 8 for 2012-2013 school year.

A resolution presented by Johnson and seconded by Hagenah, was adopted by unanimous vote of the School Board recalling Tracy Bockbrader to a 0.60 FTE Science teacher position at MA/BA +60 Step 6 for 2012-2013 school year.

Bennett offered a resolution with support from Walton that was adopted by unanimous vote of the School Board recalling Ryan Schmidt to a 0.50 FTE Special Education position at MA/BA +60 Step 7 for 2012-2013 school year.

A resolution offered by Johnson, supported by Walton, was adopted by unanimous vote of the School Board recalling Sharon Armagost to a 1.0 FTE Science position at MA15/BA80 Step 11 for 2012-2013 school year.

Hagenah made the motion to adjourn with support from Johnson. The motion carried unanimously, therefore, there being no further business the meeting adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
