The Lake Air Flying Club and the Moose Lake Kiwanis Club will kick off the summer season with their annual Fly-In, Drive-In Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at Kovanen Field, south of Moose Lake, Saturday, June 16. The breakfast will start at 7:30 a.m. and run until 11 a.m. Airplane and helicopter rides will be available again this year.

A T-6 Texan, a World War II aircraft, will also be on display. Fly-in pilots in command eat for free. Cost of the pancake feed is $5 for those 12 years and older, $3 for ages 5-11; and under 5 are free. A 50-cent discount will apply this year to tickets purchased in advance.

A variety of different aircraft are expected to come to Moose Lake to take part in the fly-in. Many people have enjoyed the breakfast and a close-up look at all the different makes and models of aircraft. Tickets are available from Flying Club and Kiwanis members and at First National Bank of Moose Lake. This cost includes a chance at winning a free airplane ride in the T-6 Texan for those who are interested. The drawing will be held at 11:15 a.m. Only approved vendors will be allowed to set up on the airport property.

There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. for the grand opening of the new arrival/departure building. In past years, the location of the new building was used for parking. Watch for new parking areas that have been created for the event.
