NOTICE OF SPRAYING ROADSIDE BRUSH

NOTICE OF SPRAYING

ROADSIDE BRUSH

Carlton County Transportation will be spraying herbicides on brush along county road ditches beginning June 11, 2012. Road ditches scheduled for spraying include:

County Rd 1 from CR 51(Alcohol Rd) North to CR 3;

County Rd 5 from CR 6 North To CR 61;

County Rd 6 from CR 5 West to Sandy Lake Rd;

County Rd 12 from Hwy 27 Moose Lake N & W to Hwy 27 W of Kettle River;

County Rd 13 from CR 8 S & E to county line;

County Rd 20 from CR 23 W & N to county line;

County Rd 61 from Hwy 27 Moose Lake N to Hwy 210;

County Rd 127 from CR 20 S & W to Hwy 210;

County Rd 134 loop off Hwy 27/73;

County Rd 137 from I-35 E to CR 13;

County Rd 139 from CR 6 N to CR 4;

County Rd 140 from CR 6 N to CR 139;

County Rd 144 from CR 61 Mahtowa N to CR 61 Atkinson; and the

Soo Line Trail from Pioneer Rd W to Skunk Creek Rd.

Brush along the road reduces driving visibility, obstructs road signs, and reduces driver reaction time to crossing wildlife. It can also restrict drainage by obstructing ditches and damage equipment. Vegetation management with selective herbicides controls brush and yet allows grasses to grow unharmed. Herbicides used have been fully tested and are approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.

Anyone objecting to the use of herbicides along the county road right of way abutting their property may obtain proper forms and information for "no spraying" options by contacting Carlton County Transportation; 1630 County Rd 61; Carlton MN 55718; Phone (218) 384-9150; email address: Transportation@co.carlton.mn.us
