COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING

WEDNESDAY - MARCH 21, 2012, 6:00 P.M.

The Wrenshall Board of Education's Committee of the Whole meeting was held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012.

Discussion regarding the School/Community Sub-Committee and highlights of the last meeting. It was discussed to concentrate on our reading and math curriculum and the possibility of introducing programs that would allow students to work at their current level and progress at their own speed.

Discussion regarding possible changes that will have to be made in the staffing for the 2012/2013 school year including finding a replacement for Deb Rubesh, due to her retirement. Also discussed kindergarten staffing for the remainder of the year.

Discussed changing Jr. High coaching positions to paid positions, which at this time are volunteer positions.

Discussion regarding running a referendum in November and the funding changes made by the State of Minnesota.

Discussion regarding the Brickyard Days wrestling event and an EDA grant.

Board members decided to wait until after budget numbers are in to set up AFSME negotiations.

Other:

-Not to lose sight of technology in our school.

-Posting of Para position.

-A speaker for the parents of new drivers.

-Usage of school bus vs. coach bus for extra-curricular activities. Further discussion at future date.
