Viola E. Polvi, 99, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012, at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet, Minn.
Viola E. Polvi, 99, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012, at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet, Minn. She was born June 3, 1912, in Cloquet to John and Edith (Bloom) Ahlgren and was a lifelong Cloquet resident. Viola was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She worked as a waitress for the former Coney Island and Coffee Cup and also worked in the housekeeping department for Community Memorial Hospital. She had lived at Larson Commons for almost 15 years prior to moving to Plainview Estates in Esko, Minn.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Julius Polvi; one daughter, Pauline Deutsch; and two brothers, Raymond and Alden Ahlgren.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Meisner of Cloquet and Karon (Vic) Langer of Diamond Bluff, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one anxiously expected in July; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 3, (her 100th birthday) from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cloquet, followed by a luncheon in the church social hall.
Memorial contributions are preferred to Mayo Clinic for research and treatment of geriatric health.
