Carlton County Central Labor Body endorses voting ‘No’ on the Anti-Marriage Amendment

The Carlton County Central Labor Body AFL-CIO has passed a resolution encouraging all Minnesota residents to vote “No” on the Constitutional amendment that would define marriage as between one man and one woman in the Minnesota Constitution.

The Carlton County Central Labor Body AFL-CIO has passed a resolution encouraging all Minnesota residents to vote “No” on the Constitutional amendment that would define marriage as between one man and one woman in the Minnesota Constitution.

“We support our GLBT brothers and sisters in labor, and their right to enjoy the same hard fought for benefits that our heterosexual members enjoy,” said Mike Kuitu, president of the Carlton County Central Labor Body. “Labor unions have been fighting over 100 years for good benefits, pensions and wages and believe that there should be no law preventing their LGBT members from receiving these same benefits within their families. The CCCLB supports every individual’s right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

“The CCCLB wholeheartedly endorses the ‘Minnesotans United for All Families’ project, and urges all Minnesota voters to vote NO on the Marriage Amendment this fall,” said Kuitu.

The resolution was authored by Secretary-Treasurer Tamara Jones, the motion to adopt was offered by Mike Sundin, seconded by Kevin Toboleski, and passed unanimously.

The Central Labor Body represents thousands of AFL-CIO affiliated workers in both Carlton and Pine counties.
