Firefighters extinguish wildfire Monday before it gets too big

Firefighters from the Cloquet Area Fire District’s Station 1 and Station 3 responded with officials from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to a report of a fast moving grass fire located in a field off the Prevost Road late Tuesday afternoon. Crews contained the fire by making a coordinated attack along the fire’s flanks and pinching towards the head, ultimately limiting the fire to between two and three acres. DNR officials along with FDL Forestry remained on-scene to extinguish all hot spots and to conduct a origin and cause determination. Contributed Photo
