Barnum teacher and head varsity football coach Kevin Haley was placed on paid administrative leave March 7 for undisclosed reasons, according to School Superintendent David Bottem.
Bottem confirmed Wednesday that “allegations were brought forth” against Haley in March, and an internal investigation was subsequently conducted.
The school board took action on the matter on March 20 at their regular monthly meeting, passing a resolution approving a letter to be personally served to Haley setting forth the proposed discipline and the basis for that discipline. That letter is also to be placed in Haley’s personnel file.
Bottem declined further comment regarding the specific nature of the allegations or whatever disciplinary action is to be taken against Haley until the final disposition of the proposed disciplinary action is completed. No criminal action is being taken against Healy.
Bottem indicated that Haley now has the opportunity to dispute the claims brought forth against him if he so chooses.
Haley teaches Social Studies at Barnum High School and has been a teacher in the Barnum School District for the past 15 years.
