The Fond du Lac ninth-grade boys basketball team coached by Earl Otis will play in the Region 7 playoffs on Saturday, March 31, at Eveleth-Gilbert High School.

All teams in the regional playoffs will play three to four games on that day. The tournament bracket will be posted at www.pacesetternet.com by March 28 and the results will be posted the week after the tournament.

The region playoffs are qualifying tournaments for the 8-region Pacesetter Minnesota State Basketball Championships for grades 5-9. Over 700 teams play annually in this youth developmental tournament system which has been coordinated by Pacesetter Sports since 1993.

Pacesetter also coordinates state tournaments in Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota. The state champion and runner-up in each state then advance to the Pacesetter Great Four-State Championships at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

The Pacesetter playoff system is sponsored by the Minnesota Timberwolves, who provide a free ticket for the 2012-2013 season to every player, and the WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx, who invite all participating teams to attend as a spectator the Pacesetter “Great Four-State” youth championship for their grade level along with a Lynx game on the same weekend this summer.
