The Cloquet Police Department is using a $1,000 grant from the Enbridge Safe Community Program to purchase a back-up radio for police officers.
“We are very pleased to get this award,” Cloquet Police Chief Wade Lamirande said, explaining that the 800 megahertz radios used by the department are an expensive but vital piece of equipment. “This is a great program and one we hope we can utilize again in the future.
The grant program through the Enbridge Energy Company supports emergency responders in its areas of operation throughout the United States. First responders who might respond to an Enbridge incident are eligible to receive the grants, which range from around $500 to $1500.
