A 24-year-old Carlton man is in custody after allegedly robbing a Carlton liquor store at knifepoint on Saturday night.
A clerk at Tall Pines Liquor reported being robbed at knifepoint by a man at 9:58 p.m. Saturday night, according to a news release issued by the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed sum of cash.
Deputies responded and arrested the suspect at a local residence without incident after a brief investigation. He is being held at the Carlton County jail, awaiting likely charges of aggravated robbery, second-degree assault and making terroristic threats later this week. The case has been referred to the Carlton County Attorney’s Office. The Duluth News Tribune typically does not identify suspects until they have been charged.
The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office received assistance in its investigation from the Minnesota State Patrol, Fond du Lac Police Department and Cloquet Police Department.
