Carlton liquor store robbed at knifepoint

A clerk at Tall Pines Liquor of Carlton reported being robbed at knifepoint by a man at 9:58 p.m. Saturday night, according to a news release issued by the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed sum of cash.
Deputies responded and arrested a 24-year-old Carlton man at a local residence without incident after a brief investigation. He is being held at the Carlton County jail, awaiting likely formal charges of aggravated robbery, second-degree assault and making terroristic threats later this week. The case has been referred to the Carlton County Attorney’s Office. The Duluth News Tribune typically does not identify suspects until they have been formally charged.
The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office received assistance in its investigation from the Minnesota State Patrol, the Fond du Lac Police Department and the Cloquet Police Department.
