Anna Mae (Peggy) Mackai

Peggy Mackai, 71, of Carlton, Minn., passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. She was born Aug. 1, 1940, in Holyoke, Minn., to Lowell and Lulu Mae (Scott) Small. Peggy worked for many years at First National Bank of Cloquet and several branches in Duluth before retiring. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Peggy was a talented artist and painted many oil paintings throughout the years. She loved the great outdoors and all it had to offer. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed many outdoor activities including walks in the woods, hiking, fishing and cross country skiing. Peggy was a fabulous cook who loved to entertain and cook for others. Peggy will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and longtime companion Larry R. Martin.

She is survived by her children, Shana (Keith) Monnerjahn, Kelly (Mike) O'Donnell and Sherri (Tim) Anderson; siblings, Betty (Daryl) Forsberg, Gerald (Renee) Small and Vicki (Ken) Crotteau; grandchildren, Amber O'Donnell and Brian Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 19, from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cloquet, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment service will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, followed by a luncheon in the church social hall.
