Booklet available for children of alcoholics

Narconon Rehab Centers is releasing a free booklet to families and children of alcoholic parents titled “The Truth About Becoming Addicted – How Good People Lose Control.”

The National Association of Children of Alcoholic Parents believes that no child of an alcoholic should grow up in isolation and without support. Narconon Alcohol and Drug Prevention and Rehabilitation Centers share this belief and are doing something about it.

“Life in a family with a non-recovering alcoholic parent can contribute to stress for all the members of the family. The resiliency and steadfast desire for help of the non-alcoholic spouse or other sober family member is a key factor in limiting the effects of the problems impacting children of alcoholics. These are the people who make family interventions happen and ultimately save children’slives,” said Yvonne M. Rodgers, executive director of Narconon East US.

“To help the children and families better understand what is happening with the alcoholic, we are offering the new free booklet. It includes a toll-free, confidential phone number where family members can call for more assistance. Ideally, we would like to help the family get the alcoholic parent into a successful long-term rehab program that focuses on needed life skills so the entire family can recover from the effects of alcohol addiction,” she added.

Anyone struggling with an alcoholic parent or knows of a child struggling with an alcoholic parent can request a free copy by emailing info@narcononeastus.org. The booklet also contains phone numbers that family and friends can call confidentially for additional information on interventions and successful rehabilitation programs.
