Wright-Cromwell News

By: Jenney Hanson, Pine Journal

The only person I know born in a Leap Year, on Feb. 29, is Beverly Krall of Fridley, who formerly lived on Eagle Lake during the summers. So happy 19th birthday, Bev, from all your friends in the Cromwell-Wright Area. We miss you guys up here.

Margaret Webster will speak at an open celebration of Kalevala Day at Kenwood Lutheran Church (right off of Arrowhead road near the Kenwood shopping center). She will show slides that she showed at the University at Helsinki last summer. It will be on Sunday, Feb 26, at 2 p.m. Give her a call if you have questions.

Kaija Webster is off of the Antarctica ice and debriefing at Christ Church New Zealand. Let’s hope there is no earthquake there this year.

Congratulations to Lenore Collman, Kylan Risacher and Joshua Eliason who will move on to the State Band Competition March 12-13 at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Daniel Denton and Lily Kemi will also compete in the State Vocal Competition March 12-13 at UMD as well!

Congratulations to Jennifer Koenig and Analiisa Jokinen who have been chosen for the UMD Jr. High Honors Band Concert. They will spend the whole day at UMD with a free concert at the Marshall Preforming Arts Hall starting at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 28.

The school board minutes will be available online by going to www.cromwellwright.k12.mn.us clicking on District Office tab and going to School Board.

A huge thank you goes out to all the folks who attended the St. John’s Lutheran Chili Feed in Wright. They had a good turnout and the funds will help to pay for the new ceiling in the worship area.

That’s all the news from Lake Becarefulwithfire and please try to remember to be careful with fire as it’s pretty dry and with not much snow, it’s always a danger.
