INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 99

ESKO, MINNESOTA

FEBRUARY 2, 2012

WORK SESSION

The Esko Board of Education, Independent School District No. 99, Esko, Minnesota, held a work session on Thursday, February 2, 2012. Chairperson Julian Bertogliat called the meeting to order at 3:15 p.m.

Members present: Rick Liljegren, Julian Bertogliat, Scott Powers, Margaret Sunnarborg, Jeff Salo, and Superintendent Fischer. Absent: Lynn McComber.

Discussion was held regarding the current state of district fund balances and the need to again seek an operating referendum. Questions arose regarding the timing of the ballot vote. In order to hold a ballot vote by mail, a special Board meeting would need to be called to approve such action by the second week in February, as the State of Minnesota and Carlton County require notification by February 10, 2012. After discussion, it was decided to wait until next fall and conduct the vote during the November general elections.

Superintendent Aaron Fischer distributed and explained the timelines for the budget planning process.

Meeting adjourned at 3:53 p.m.

Jeff Salo

Clerk
